Markleeville Creek is a 5-minute stroll down Pleasant Valley Road. The creek is a put-and-take fishery that is regularly planted with trout including some that range from 5-7 lbs. Also located within a 5-minute walk are backcountry skiing and snowboarding, hiking and mountain biking trails adjacent to Pleasant Valley Road. For the more adventurous, Thornburg Canyon Trailhead is located 2 miles away and enters the Mokelumne Wilderness connecting with the Pacific Crest Trail and the Upper and Lower Blue Lake area. For the those seeking the challenge of a lifetime there is the premier cycling event in California – the Markleeville Death Ride - Tour of the California Alps. With over 15,000 feet of climbing, 129 miles of scenic riding, and up to five Alpine climbs.
